The surprising environmental benefits of single-use coffee pods
@odd I can imagine if you make a full pot (8 cups) of brewed coffee and drink only 2 or 4 cups and throw away the rest, then it will be more wasteful than single-use cofee pods. But, I only make enough for my wife and me every morning. We drink even the very last drop out of the pot. I just don't see how that is detrimental to the environment compared to generating 2-3 plastic pods every morning. @munish
@Parag Agree totally! I have a plastic pod brewer, but I usually use a water boiler, and instant coffee. ☕️
@Parag I couldn't read the article (paywall), but I don't think it would prove true for us. We use an Aeropress and I can make 2 single cups in the time it would take a pot to brew. It also allows me to customize the brew (my wife likes half decaf).
@pratik @palousegeo @odd @Parag I am a pod user. Not even plastic, but aluminium. We recycle our pods, but it still does not take away from the fact whatever method you use, is going to have some form of environmental impact. On the plus side, it stopped me driving to the coffee shop and getting coffee in a card cup.
