I blame @maique because I am now playing around with Drafts
micro.gregmorris.co.uk@gr36 Have fun… 🙂
Want to blame me more? Some ideas on the first page of my “basic” group of actions:
@greghiggins I love going through the official directory, and looking for stuff I might use.
Top actions on row above keyboard. What are yours? 🙂
@maique I created several keyboard rows. One of them is communications. So it allows me to easily send a draft as a text or an email to certain contacts that I talk to frequently. I have a quick "Send to Micro.blog" action that I use daily. You can put a title in it as well which is nice.
I have quick actions for twitter. One of my favorites, though, is the action that acts like fantastical for reminders and calendar events.
I use the widget a lot too. I'll send a screen shot of that when I get a chance. I use the grid setup and have it stacked. So I have my most used Workspaces there. I also have open, dictate, last draft, etc.
@greghiggins Post to Micro.blog is probably my most used action, easy to reach with my thumb, above the keyboard 🤣🤣
I’ll have to give the widget another go, never got used to it.
@odd I believe you should use Drafts as much as you think you should. Someone is surely using it a lot more anyway, even if you use it a lot. I know I’m barely scraping the surface, but it does everything I need it to. From time to time I try to figure out if it can handle another task, and usually it does. But still aware I could be using it for a lot more.
@maique I’d like to have a copy of everything that I send out via emails or posts to Micro.Blog or whatever, and that thought struck me when I saw your Basics palette.
@maique do you use Drafts as a long term storage option? Or do you use Apple Notes, Craft, Bear, etc for that?
@greghiggins Apple Notes for a few things I really want to save (including pdfs and other formats not supported by Drafts), even though, in the end, there is some sort of storage on Drafts, since I archive most of the things that start there. Never get back to them, truth be told, but they are there.
I should also remove that Craft action, I don’t use Craft anymore.
@odd Since most start there, and get archived when an action is performed, there is an archive of almost everything.
@maique Reason I asked was I used to store everything in Drafts. But I've recently started migrating some stuff to Apple Notes. Mainly because of the ability to share notes and the fact that you can lock notes so people can't see the notes without a passcode. But also, I had a situation last week where Drafts did something weird and I lost some of my actions and workspaces. I had to go back and restore from a backup. That kind of scared me. Now, I'm not saying that won't happen with Apple Notes as well.
@greghiggins That is scary!! Can’t recall ever happening to me.
I do like Notes as a multi-format storage, but I don’t really share notes with anyone, it’s something I don’t need for work, as well as personal life. The lock might come in handy, thanks for that tip, I’ll look into it 🙂
@ChrisJWilson @maique @odd @greghiggins @gr36 I would love to use Drafts as much as I used to before, but Ulysses makes composing and posting so easy especially with images, that it feels like to recreate all that in Drafts it'd be a bunch of hacks...
@maique The locking was a big deal. So any personal notes, information, etc you can lock the note.
I collaborate with my radio co-host for sporting events. So that makes it nice to have a shared apple notes. I didn't realize how powerful Apple Notes has become over the past couple of years.
@Gaby @ChrisJWilson @maique @odd @gr36 the app Mimi makes it easy for me. But I do have an action that uses Shortcuts which is easy
@Gaby but it feels like native. You hit the button (like you do in Ulysses) and you pic a picture, it uploads it and gets you the link.....
Ok, dangit...so it's a hack.
@Gaby I get that. And I understand not everyone uses it the same way. That's what makes apps like Drafts, Bear, Ulysses, etc. so great. They can be used in so many different ways and be powerful in each of those ways.
