@vishae I'd like to hear about that if you find out what it was. The book search in Micro.blog is an attempt to make this a little easier. It can auto-fill the IndieBookClub fields. (We are probably going to have to recreate more of Goodreads.)
@manton @vincent I think the Micro.Blog book search is great! Only caveat is that I almost never use the web interface. (Or read…lately…but, hey, that’s another discussion) I want to read more, and I’d like to share what I read on Micro.Blog, and I think there is a statistically significant number of people on Micro.Blog that reads books, and might want to do the same, but they are in one of the iOS apps or the Android app.
@manton interesting and something I haven’t thought about. Let me know what you find regarding API restrictions.
@vishae I've been trying a number of these over the last few months, and so far very little has met expectations. As you say, most require significant manual data input, and for those of us with real book collections, that's just a non starter. I've got probably 2500 books.
@mellowdave OCR/barcode/qr scanning options for ISBN on all books would be nice. @vishae
@keene Storygraph was the one I was thinking of, but now that I check out their site, it doesn't seem to have micropub support, does it?
@vishae Might it be on the Storygraph’s roadmap of features? I seem to recall the same but can’t find any evidence of it now.
@cygnoir I contacted StoryGraph and they say that APIs would be on their roadmap but don't have an eta.
In the meantime I'm looking at using Shortcuts to tide me over.
@vishae Kevin pointed me at beta.readng.co which is in beta and looks like it might be worth looking at. It imported all my goodreads books first thing, which was nice. I prefer the UI to that of StoryGraph, but it's early so ratings and such are sparse. /cc @humdrum
