@maique you’re not wrong, sometimes asking is just manners , I mean to most people I ask I do care about the answer. Perhaps maybe this is why I sometimes ask “how’s it going” or what’s up? To some people lol. But yeah often we forget about what really matters.
@Gabz Heh, unless it’s your wife or your therapist asking then the answer is always along the lines of “Yeah, great!” Glad to hear your blessings are so readily countable! 😀
@Gabz @maique It’s a thing linguists call ‘phatic communion’. It’s just sounds coming out of the mouth that help establish a human connection. In English people don’t actually want to know how you are and would be shocked if you said something like “Well actually my cat’s really sick and I’m worried about losing my job.” All that’s required is a “Great thanks. You?”
@Gabz I’m doing good. I am tempted to add “under the circumstances”, but I won’t. Everyone has circumstances now. I don’t count my blessings often enough, but I’ll try to do better. Thanks for asking! 😘
@Gabz It is good to count your blessings now and then. I should do it more often because I tend to feel miserable sometimes without no real reason. I liked reading your blogpost.
