@maique youâre not wrong, sometimes asking is just manners , I mean to most people I ask I do care about the answer. Perhaps maybe this is why I sometimes ask âhowâs it goingâ or whatâs up? To some people lol. But yeah often we forget about what really matters.
@Gabz Heh, unless itâs your wife or your therapist asking then the answer is always along the lines of âYeah, great!â Glad to hear your blessings are so readily countable! đ
@Gabz @maique Itâs a thing linguists call âphatic communionâ. Itâs just sounds coming out of the mouth that help establish a human connection. In English people donât actually want to know how you are and would be shocked if you said something like âWell actually my catâs really sick and Iâm worried about losing my job.â All thatâs required is a âGreat thanks. You?â
@Gabz Iâm doing good. I am tempted to add âunder the circumstancesâ, but I wonât. Everyone has circumstances now. I donât count my blessings often enough, but Iâll try to do better. Thanks for asking! đ
@Gabz It is good to count your blessings now and then. I should do it more often because I tend to feel miserable sometimes without no real reason. I liked reading your blogpost.
@ajennische thank you for reading and this is something I have to remind myself often as well.
