The slow rollout of ActivityPub in Threads continues, but it doesn’t appear to be accessible from Micro.blog yet. Hopefully soon. What I wrote in June is holding up well. This is an important step forward for open protocols.

@manton I guess I'll subscribe to Threads once Micro.blog can access it, and no sooner.
@manton the need to use an IG account to access or open Thread is still a deal breaker for me. If I could open an account from MB or Mastodon, then I might change my mind.
@numericcitizen @renevanbelzen If and when Threads is fully federated, you won't even need to create a Threads account. Just follow Threads people from Micro.blog.
@manton I'm hoping that this causes clients (i.e. Ivory) to more fully embrace ActivityPub and not just Mastodon. I'm also looking forward to the day that I can use my @micro.blog handle across Mastodon and Threads in Ivory!
@manton Finding those people with micro.blog is a problem, in my experience. With Mastodon I often have to find the exact account, since searching by name gives an empty result, or an unused account. On Mastodon itself it’s much easier to find people.
@renevanbelzen That's fair. It's a different problem but definitely something we want to work on.
@manton and I can't wait for that day! I'm not sure they will go that far.
@manton it’ll be nice to be able to reply to people who are on Threads thru here (or my micro.blog) but I guess Threads people can’t… find me?? I’m still quite unclear there. And I supposed Meta won’t allow cross-posting from micro.blog to Threads.
@miguel They might allow cross-posting but I'm not holding my breath. Definitely replying back and forth should work as soon as Threads has finished rolling everything out next year.
@manton I’m not holding my breath either. Happy to own my own domain and hosting with y’all!
