So, in a nutshell: Obsidian is a Markdown text editor on steroids with a fancy plugin ecosystem. Did I miss something?

@paulcraig901 @numericcitizen A lot to like in that package incl. free / data local / unobtrusive sync (free-ish) / visual goodies / plugin world / care and love, etc.

It was plugin overwhelm, and a general need to curtail my tinkering, which had me abandon it recently after just swimming in it for months.

@numericcitizen it misses the ability to connect things together through tags and page to page insertions which is quite fine grained. You can tag individual paragraphs and have search take you right to the tags, as opposed to only being able to tag the page. There is a graphic display of all the connections which is fascinating. It readily accepts insertion of photographs either by link or copy and paste. Some of the plugin ecosystem is pretty cool, like the ability to import Kindle highlights and notes which is awesome. If you change the location of a page any and all references to it throughout the “vault” are automatically updated. And, it’s free for now unless you want to be able to share your vault on the www in which case they charge you a subscription fee.

@mbkriegh as a Craft user who is still waiting to get any sort of tag support in Craft, it's refreshing to be able to use them anywhere in Obsidian.
