@lewism Hi Lewis 👋, and welcome! Thanks for checking out our corner of the internet. You might be interested in this page we put together with tips for using Micro.blog and what makes it different from other blogging and social media services. welcome.micro.blog
PS. Nice photo ❄️❄️❄️
@hollyhoneychurch Thanks for the welcome! Glasgow is a fine city although as my home town is Edinburgh I know I shouldn’t be saying that.😉 A day of snow and blue sky like this in Finland really is fantastic after all the dark days of autumn. ☃️
@lewism haha brill : ) Are you in Finland permanently or will Scotland ever call you back? What's it like to live there? Send some snow please. None of this sleet business. Though I love all weathers if I'm tucked up enough. And I'm definitely a winter lassie : )
@hollyhoneychurch yes I am over here for good. I still go back to Scotland when i can although over the last 2 years thats been hard. I like it here, Finnish people have alot in common with Scots, similar sense of humour to give one example.
@lewism oh cool. I love Scottish humour. And I've picked up the naughty habit of saying c*@t at every opportunity. I've enjoyed some yt vids about Finland culture. There's one aweome dude who's made a name for himself talking about different aspects. Scandanavia in general suits my disposition. I love this article about personal space in Finland. Post Pandemic, this was something we all started doing in queues but the Finns have been doing it for forever : ) Can you speak Finnish?
@dgs ha brilliant. A while ago they were offering great incentive packages for techies to move there too : )
@lewism Welcome to this corner of the internet. An auspicious start to your time here.
@lewism welcome to micro.blog. I am now a follower of yours. The more you interact the more fun it’ll be (pretty obvious but here on micro.blog it’s crucial). Hope you’ll like it. The atmosphere is very friendly. That’s the best with this whole service.
@ericmwalk Thanks Eric. I really loved your post about moving your presence to M.B. sort of in the same position as you.
@ndreas thanks & I have returned the favour! The first day has been great, I am really enjoying the whole experience so far. Looking forward to reading more about Stockhom too.
@hollyhoneychurch oh thats a great article! Yes there is a comic all about Finnish customs a few here the main website is FinnishNightmares worth checking out....& my Finnish is pretty bad but I can get by mostly.
@lewism oh gosh that's so funny. The comic is brill. A lot rings true. I'm totally Finn. It all makes sense. That's why I want to move to the deep countryside with a cat : ) I often go clubbing (the only time I have to get close to people other than my Simon : ) and get annoyed with personal space issues - I wonder what it's like in a Finnish club?! I wonder if alcohol plays a factor in bringing people closer together.
@lewism that's very cool that you can even attempt to speak/learn Finnish. Nice one : )) And your kiddo with have a great dual language upbringing. What do you speak in at home?
@hollyhoneychurch its a bit a jumble really. Mostly english cos of me but there is always some Finnish mixed in. 😆
@lewism thanks for checking it out and glad you found it interesting. It took me almost a full year to finally move everything over. For the first year I actually was sending everything I did in Micro.blog over to my WordPress site. I actually for a while just thought that is what I would do forever and I might end up doing a flavor of that for archival purposes (even though it is not necessary). However, I found over the year I used M.b. I didn’t really post much on my WordPress site and then I was trying to figure out what to “show” there as M.b. had everything since it was starting there. Good luck on figuring it out and feel free to ping me if you have any questions.
