@odd My coldest time was field maneuvers in Germany in the winter of 1986. We had to mix a little gasoline in the diesel stoves we used to heat at night because the diesel by itself turned to a near frozen sludge. Of the six 8" (203 mm) guns in my battery, my section's was the only one that was consistently able to drive out to the firing point each day---far away from any heat. I later learned from German civilians that the inside of their train cars were covered in ice. I suppose this cold spell affected a lot of Europe.

@markstoneman Especially the 70s were a cold time in winter here. I remember from walking to school in -20°C and such.
