Mike McCue from Flipboard announcing Surf:

Built from the ground up on ActivityPub, AT Proto and RSS, you can create and surf amazing custom feeds that organize people, videos, articles, images and podcasts around the things you care about.

I don’t have access to the beta yet, so not entirely sure what it is, but sounds promising! Maybe a little like Flipboard merged with Tapestry.

@manton I used Flipboard for a few years and really liked it, then they did something to change how it worked that made me unhappy so I left. I don’t recall what it was now, but they seem to be doing some interesting stuff again. Thanks for bringing this up :)

@manton I think that Tapestry is still a few months away. The last Kickstarter update said, “We hope to have the official launch early in 2025”. By then, hopefully, surf.social will be stable.

@manton I’m really happy with the number of apps like this that seem to be emerging!

@manton it’s a shame Micro.blog is not one of the services to pick.

@philbowell Yeah, it’s not clear to me if the product is actually limited to those services or if those are just high-profile examples.

@manton Micro.blog should work great. Some debugging may be needed. Manton, I’ll get you a beta.
