@manton Micro.blog is becoming a read-later service? Interesting! I'm looking forward to learning more.
@manton This is so exciting! I've been considering an upgrade and the bookmarks/highlighting feature might convince me to move earlier on that than I would otherwise.
@manton This is a great-looking update. Moving menu items to the sidebar is a good move. Harmonizing web app and iOS apps was long overdue so glad you made it happen.
@manton This looks great β with a welcome improvement to the overall IA. Any thoughts about using a standard set of icons across the different platforms?
@paulrobertlloyd Thanks! On iOS and macOS, I'm using SF Symbols (when available), but unfortunately Apple won't allow developers to use them on the web.
@kimberlyhirsh Great, hope you like it! I think renaming the plan to Micro.blog Premium is going to help us think about more ways to improve it, rather than focus only on podcasts/video which not everyone needs.
@MitchWagner I'm going to try to make a video of it this week. It won't be as full-featured as something like Instapaper, but I've found that it's really useful to have bookmarks and highlights together, because they are often part of the writing process for new blog posts.
@manton Very excited for 2.0! Especially the read later feature! What is the yearly price of the premium?
@brucegodin Thanks! $100/year (basically 2 months free). Everyone on the current podcast/video plan will automatically switch over to Micro.blog Premium for the same price.
@manton Oh, wow. Back in the old Slack room I pined for an updated iOS and Mac app, but the website looks like it's gonna be great. Good work, Manton and team! I can't wait!
@manton Or on Android either, I suspect. A bespoke set of Micro.blog specific icons however would bring coherence across the different platforms, and perhaps even a little personality, too. And youβd have full control over their usage π
@manton Awesome! What if I am on the regular yearly plan and want to switch to premium yearly?
@brucegodin The current web interface doesnβt make it easy to switch without cancelling first, so best to email me and Iβll update your subscription. Thanks!
@manton ... wow. No wonder you can't wait for everybody to get access to the update. π€―
@manton Instapaper does too much. I'm looking for someting that saves links, saves my place when I have to interrupt reading in the middle of the article, and eliminates clutter. That's all. I don't even need an archive β I have other tools for that.
@manton this might help me quite a bit and push me over the edge. I toss links into a note in iawriter and try to remember them later to write a post all the time.
@dominikhoecht Simple bookmarks are available to everyone, just like favorites are today, but the archiving and highlights are only included in Micro.blog Premium. I want it to have enough features that it's useful even if you don't need podcasting. (No speaking in the reading interface, by the way.)
@manton Does M.b 2.0 include the ability to reply to all users that are mentioned within the post being replied to? Right now it just does 1.
@cdevroe No change to replying yet. There's been good feedback about how we handle this in Sunlit, so we may adopt that in Micro.blog later.
@manton Any chance 2.0 will support better read position holding or add anything to the API to allow clients to more easily implement?
@stevesnider @mcg An API for third-party apps is coming. The official M.b apps are still not very well-suited for it right now.
