I have arrived at a compromise between my digital and analog journaling. Rambling personal thoughts in analog form are photographed, inserted into my daily note page in Obsidian and tagged for any thoughts or happenings I don’t want to loose track of.

@mbkriegh oh that’s a neat idea. I’ve just kept my handwritten journal entirely separate from my daily note but I like the concept of seeing them together like this.

@Annie been struggling with the digital vs analog for a while but this approach seems like it will work for me. Hope it does for you!

@mbkriegh this seems like a really nice way to track everything. I can imagine your vault would get pretty large after a while however!

@herself I have set up a vault for each year for journaling. So I think the vault size will be ok. I have a separate vault for book reading notes/research.

@mbkriegh that sounds cool! I can’t remember if obsidian handles ocr scanning but there must be a way, otherwise…

@herself i haven’t noticed that it does but it’s so deep i could well have missed it. I have noticed that the native camera in the iPhone offers it though it doesn’t do such a good job on my handwriting, especially when i use pencil which i do most of the time. I find my need to transcribe my journal notes is limited to those moments when there is a thought breakthrough or some other worthy of development journal entry. Not rare, but not common either.

@mbkriegh I was surprised to see that a basic search in my iphone photos app found text in screenshots, etc! Really love this technology :)
