I must pick a task manager and stick with it for the rest of the year. The contenders are:
- NirvanaHQ
- MS To Do
- Todoist
I must pick a task manager and stick with it for the rest of the year. The contenders are:
@ridwan If I had to pick one, I would go with Todoist. I don't know the other two, but I have had some experience using Todoist. It's flexible, and filters and labels make it suitable for focusing on the right task at the right time.
@ridwan If I may, I highly recommend TickTick. It's a really well done ToDoManager with good integration across platforms.
@matthewlang My gripe with full-featured task managers is that there are too many options. I find myself wasting time by organising my lists rather than doing them. No matter how hard I try Todoist, something about it repels me from the app.
@vaibhav I have tried TickTick in the past and honestly didn't like the interface. Moreover, there was a bit of a learning curve and not intuitive enough to run with it.
@ridwan I get that. The more features these task managers are given, the more concerned you can become with getting the list right rather than completing the list. Despite several long spells with Todoist, I returned to bullet journaling which has a very minimal feature set! No distracting bells and whistles there!
@matthewlang I have been BuJoing on and off for a long time. I think it is the best way to clarify and focus on the important things rather than mindlessly adding tasks just because. Did you see any improvement in your output when you moved from Todoist to BuJo? Are you 100% on BuJo?
@ridwan I have learnt the hard way, pick the best from all and adapt accordingly. For me it is Bujo style but in my way.
@ridwan I'm 100% on BuJo for projects and tasks that I can use BuJo for. Basically, anything around the house or anything that I am throwing together as a Rails application.
The only place I am not using BuJo is for long-term web development projects, of which there are currently two. I handle these in GitHub as they are too big to be dealt with in BuJo.
I do feel more focused now than I have in the past. There's a mindset shift when switching between BuJo and GitHub that I haven't had in the past. It's this that helps me focus.
