AI haters, you can skip this post. I installed Codex CLI to explain the Ghost ActivityPub implementation to me. I can ask it questions about how it parses JSON-LD and handles various fields. Learning a lot!

@manton Cool! I’m learning a lot about writing in English by letting AI proofread my texts — much more than I ever did using just a spell checker. Most of the time, the suggestions are few and small, but I really feel that the ones I accept improve the text — and help me improve my English writing (which isn’t my native language).

@birming That sounds like a great use for it.

@manton I figured out yesterday a pretty interesting way to learn is to paste a file or something into o3 and ask “based on this, what do you think i might not understand about this programming language, framework, best practices, or patterns”

@manton Are you sure it’s telling you the truth? I just asked Perplexity for some useful centrist/moderate debate type hashtags for Mastodon. It gave me a list of eight. Transpires none of them have ever been used.

@matthewhurst So far it seems to be right. I’m using it mostly as a first pass to understand things. I still try to verify anything that matters.

@manton it probably depends what it gets asked for. I’ve never once used any AI that hasn’t at some point made stuff up or made a claim that isn’t verifiably false.
