@marmanold Good stuff! "outrage and dismay by the fathers of the Jerusalem Synod at the heartless cruelty implicit in the Reformed doctrine of double predestination. In no uncertain terms, they condemned this teaching as impious and blasphemous." I appreciated the conclusion that engagement with reformed thinking helped the Church make plain some of its implicit beliefs. A teacher of mine once said "If it weren't for heresy we wouldn't have theology." (by which he meant doctrinal statements like the confession)

@JohnBrady It was a great read. I want to read the entire confession, now. On face value, it sounded very Methodist.

I’ve got an article saved from the same source on the Eastern Church’s response to Lutheranism. Excited to read that as well.
