Facebook has had 3 billion users for a while, but I wasn’t expecting Instagram to already have 3 billion monthly active users. Insane scale.

@manton tbh I’m surprised it took this long, i’d have to see the demographic, but i know FAR more people with instagram than facebook (although i’m a teenager so it’s v different to the majority of FB users im sure)

@manton Active monthly seems like a low-bar metric to me.
@markstoneman You’re right that weekly would be a higher bar, but still… 3 billion is a lot of people. 🙂
@Gentry Fully supported but sadly has not been updated in a long time. We have a new version that hasn’t shipped yet, and that will address several problems when it’s ready to go out.
@manton very nice! I’m in process of trying to move out of the metaverse as well, I would love to have a photo space that integrates into Micro Blog. I’m excited to poke around in Sunlit
@manton @markstoneman Keep in mind that it is as much a video entertainment/shopping app as it is a social app, so I’d be curious what the breakdown looks like between actual “people” versus biz/influencer/channel accounts. It’s crazy how many businesses update their IG but not their own website.
@rscottjones This is actually one of the bigger pain points for me since logging off of Meta. It feels like every business I actually want a connection to only wants to share via Instagram. (I still have several friends that are only on Meta too, but I have more hope of connecting with them otherwise.)
@kimberlykg @rscottjones Yeah, and Meta really wants you to sign in with Instagram to view almost anything, so it’s a step back from simple public websites.
@manton I don’t much like Instagram anymore. I enjoyed it as a place to post photographs when it first started, before Facebook got their hands on it. Seems to be full of so much junk these days.
