@manton Thanks! That was super quick!! And hopefully helpful too..
Quick question: what is this “Twitter” you mention ? 😉😂
@maique Ha! For the last week or so I’ve disabled automatic cross-posting from Micro.blog to Twitter and it’s really nice. One less thing to think about when writing.
@manton I have a few friends over there, and I’ve found the interaction has grown nicely since I started posting through Micro.blog. I’m actually posting a lot more, but people are replying like never before. Maybe the thought process that goes into a M.b post is showing... 😊
@maique That’s great! I think I just needed a little break from other social networks. But the cross-posting is a built-in feature for a reason. Glad it’s helpful to folks.
@manton i have a few folks on Twitter that are very important to me. Like those geek amateur radio friends that spend hours listening to noise on shortwave or catching satellites in Very High Frequencies 😊
@vincent so, I have a good friend who really dislikes the plain text/markdown editing experience with Micro.blog. I think something that could be a differentiator that would be worth considering is some form of great rich text/block editing experience, even if that's a "one way" (as in, sorry about drafts or existing posts, once they're made, I have to convert to HTML and that's what you'll see).
@JohnPhilpin I was trying to spend less time on Twitter, but cross posting from here is having the opposite effect! Ahahahahah.
@jsonbecker thanks Jason! I agree and I think Markdown is not fit for big adoption for broader usage. It feels very geeky to me in a way. I myself prefer a nice editor too...
I do love the blocks idea. I’ll explore a few concepts.
A few months ago I was looking at adding something like QuillJS, which I can convert to markdown and make it work. But I didn’t go that route because I knew that I want a complete rewrite.
@vincent my thinking is that Tumblr does this very well. So maybe the trick is basic rich text with some post-types that are actually just HTML templates essentially. Tumblr then also has Markdown for the nerds.
@maique @johnphilpin i rather have good real interactions on Twitter from something I posted from Micro.blog than just scrolling through 🤗
@Gabz Same here. That’s what I found since I started using M.b. Truth be told I’m following a few of you guys over there, as well as on Mastodon, and that has also helped... 😂
@vincent My top 3 Gluon requests: 3. Double-tap to zoom a photo in the full-screen view 2. Timeline position syncing 1. Don't burn yourself out developing features for us 🙂
