Hey @manton - stop stripping out my alpha channel with your highfalutin image processing.
@jasonkratz Gonna reply in email, but in short: profile pictures have to be JPEG, so the alpha is lost. You can upload PNG or WebP for other images in a post and it will preserve alpha… I think that works best from the web so the app doesn’t get in the way.
@jasonkratz I will fix it one day… Need to unravel some JPEG assumptions that have been baked in for years. Part of the issue is (unlike most sites!) we use a short, consistent file path by default, and that has .jpg at the end.
