Remember in old emails and usenet posts how people would put quotes in their signatures? Kind of miss that. I wonder if there’s a modern IndieWeb replacement for that.
@manton The first thing I did on vBulletin or phpBB sites was to turn signatures off. Sheer chaos, usually large animated gifs strangling my 56k to load anything.
@manton I remember blogs published using Dave Winer’s 1999.io had quotes like this near the bottom of the page. It’s a neat idea.
@manton  I always enjoy getting an email signature that includes some Bible verse I’m supposed to look up. Nothing like a little performative religiosity. Numbers:22-28
@manton I remember having some kind of generator in an old email client that would pick a quote from random out of a large file or directory of quotes. I liked it.
