Computer History in ChatGPT is blowing my mind. It’s basically a note-taker for what I’m working on. Here’s a screenshot of my work so far this morning. I’m still fine-tuning what apps should be included… No chat, and will likely exclude some specific websites too.

The timeline shows a series of technical support and development activities related to Micro.blog, including resolving publishing issues, supporting AT Protocol handle-change errors, and improving book cover layout fixes.

@manton oh that is cool… reminds me of Rewind (now closed) but LLM-processed.

@manton that feature goes one step too far for me. Feels too much like someone sitting behind me watching what I’m doing. That gives me the creeps.

@AlexKucera It is a little creepy. I feel okay about it because it’s really just a collection of Markdown files stored on your Mac.

@AlexKucera yeah, I wonder if there’s a good harness out there for creating a similar computer-wide memory with a local / self-hosted model.

Sometimes it’d be nice to reminded what the heck I spent all day doing (and sometimes I’d probably rather not be!) 😂

@manton ah, I wasn’t aware that it is just local Markdown files. That shifts it to okay for me.

@AlexKucera Yeah, to be clear it does run the summaries and whatnot with cloud models, so the data has to flow through OpenAI. But the retention seems mostly on my Mac, which I like.
