Tesla might be finally doing something good again. TechCrunch reports:
Tesla intends to build a massive solar panel factory 45 minutes southwest of Houston, according to documents filed with the state of Texas. […] The factory would create about 9,700 full-time jobs, Tesla said.
Solar is so obvious for Texas. If this helps get the costs down, good things will happen. At least I like it better than their plan to build robots.
@manton I wonder what subsidies thay’ve extorted for this project. Also, just because they’re making solar panels doesn’t mean Texas will use them. I should think that’s a separate issue.
@markstoneman They are trying to get a big tax break. And yeah, manufacturing is its own thing, but still.
@manton Frankly, I don’t care how we get more solar panels made here, or who makes them, or even whether it’s for the purpose of a tax break – we need as many solar panels as we can get!

@JohnPhilpin China, a nation with active concentration camps, has been subsidizing solar to the point of basically dumping them globally for ~20 years.
We should be throwing tax breaks around for any domestic manufacturing like we were on Oprah.
