The more I read of the Apple filing last night, the less sympathetic I was to Apple. Theft of “trade secrets” can mean almost anything, from the serious to the silly. Information is not the same thing as real property. Big companies use contracts and lawyers to protect themselves from competition.

@manton Mind you, “Liu allegedly kept an Apple-issued laptop after departing the company and exploited a vulnerability to download dozens of confidential Apple documents while he was working at OpenAI” doesn’t sound great.

@david.lynch.wtf No, it doesn’t! The problem is the lawyers have mixed in some unrelated and probably unserious things. Tang Tan’s company wasn’t even acquired by OpenAI until over a year after he left Apple.
