Looking forward to the Oscars tonight. Managed to see almost all the best picture nominations, and a handful more in other categories. I wonder if the Oscars being later than the Golden Globes, etc. means there are more surprises because it would be “boring” for the same films to win again.

@manton Thanks. It’s always nice to know the opinion of someone whose personality you know. Critics are often interesting but it can be hard to anticipate what your own reaction will be. (The best critic for me was Roger Ebert: I didn’t always agree with him but I could usually reliably anticipate my reaction to a film. He was also a deep well of knowledge of the industry and an excellent writer. Still miss him.)

@manton Oscars used to be fun until I learned they are all pedophiles and satan worshippers.

Took all the enjoyment of both the oscars and movies in general, completely away.
