Beto Dealmeida blogs about a human.json file and browser extension that lets other bloggers vouch for who is writing their own posts, not AI-generated:

This JSON document not only says, “all my content under https://robida.net is human-generated”, but it also indicates other people who I trust are doing the same.

I wonder if we all have the same definition of human-generated now? For me, it’s okay if people use an LLM as an advanced grammar checker. Human drafts a post, AI suggests how to polish it.

@manton This looks like one of those technical solutions that is delivered into the void of human consensus. It is purely a signaling mechanism.

You ask a great question about the specificity for "what counts". But I don't actually think it matters, because it's not a technical specification. It's a print at home badge that people can wear to the convention.

I don't expect there is ever going to be any technical definition that can be applied. The details are way too complicated and most people lack the criteria by which they could do such a certification.

The criteria for the badge is not technical, it is social. " I have printed the badge and I am now wearing it".

@manton Thank you for saying this. I was starting to feel I was alone on this.

@TroyDPatterson I think human.json is a neat idea and I hope it takes off. People do use LLMs to polish their writing, though… At what scale compared to all the fully AI-generated content, I have no idea.

@manton This is a good idea. I think that having an “AI level” value (0-9?) would improve it (rather than the black and white “is/isn’t vouched” setting).

@the Yeah, maybe not 0-9 but I could see 0-2 working: “absolutely no AI”, “tiny bit of AI”, “lots of AI”. It quickly gets complicated, though.

@manton i have been putting on my longer posts and bottom of websites, that everything “was written by me”. no idea why. just feel like I’m so against “slop” (as we all are) I just want people to know if this stuff sucks, Its b/c of ME. Which at least is better than because I’m too lazy to write lol
