Working on Inkwell is in some ways a little awkward because I’m competing in the same space as some of my friends for the first time. But I root for their success and find ways to collaborate. It’s similar to how MarsEdit and Micro.blog work together and also “compete” as blogging client apps.

@manton I imagine this like craft fairs (for some reason). You have pretty badges you love on your stall. The person next to you does too, but you’re joined by your love of badges. It’s less competing, more sharing an interest? ☺️

@brentsimmons @manton It feels to me like feed readers and new blogging tools are seeing a renaissance. New takes on the feed reader is why I built Stream. I wanted it to feel like Twitter but for feeds. 😄

I’m now at work on a blogging tool. I’ve wanted to do it for 20 years and I’ve finally started. Posting to Micro.blog is first on the list, Manton.

I’m gonna have to bug you about how to sync with Inkwell at some point. Gotta get Stream for Mac out the door first!

@manton shared goals, different visions. We are all just jamming on making the web a better place for people, alongside each other, not against each other

@tg @manton Yes! It’s a friendly “competition” so to speak. I think most of us in this area just want to make things that people love and keep the web open.

There’s been so much activity in the space lately and it’s incredible to watch.

@fahrni @manton if both of you are working on mac, i strongly urge you to take a look at what i've done and learn from my mistakes. people can be /very/ opinionated about mac. if it's of any use to either of you, please consider me for a test flight, or shoot me some screenshots and I can tell you if I've tried it and if I got yelled at about it :D

My reader has been around for five years, I think, it’s just not crazy popular. 🤣

I wish I had more time for it. I spend four hours a week on it and love every millisecond of it. 😁

@fahrni @manton i hear you, it's a struggle. i've got a fulltime job and 4 kids! 5 years is awesome though, I'm sure there are folks who have used it that whole time!

@manton I think there is room for everyone. Just like with cars, not everyone wants the same car. 😊 it’s nice to have options

@fahrni @tg @manton I tried to find Stream in the App Store just to check it out but it says “not available in your region”. Which is odd because I’m in Cyprus, which is an EU country
