Defining consent for AI: manton.org

@manton this has actually inhibited me putting out original content. However, I do like cloudflare’s anti-AI DNS proxy. It injects extra instructions into the robots.TXT, as well as an AI maze for those that ignore it.

@jonah That’s sad if it discourages people from writing. The good news is I do think the big players (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google) all respect robots.txt now.

@Jonah @manton that’s the thing - these players PRETEND to respect the rules of the open web, but in reality, it is different as it is driven by greed.

@manton This is a great train of thought and I really appreciate micro.blog including features to disable AI tools. I know you use AI far more than I do, but you seem committed to having the platform’s values come before your own opinion on these tools. That’s a really good sign for micro.blog.
