I got the Day One printed journal in the mail. Opted for a boring cover, just wanted to see how everything looks. Love that they provide this service.

@manton I’ve been printing their books every year since 2016 and not once did I think to do a blank cover…LOVE IT!

@bbohling Maybe I’ll try a photo next time, I just couldn’t make up my mind. 🙂 Really happy with how it turned out inside, though.

@manton the “pick random photo” feature is semi-decent. Typically takes me 10-30 clicks before a photo I like is selected. But given all my entries have at least one photo it would be impossible for me to pick one myself.

@manton I used it one particularly busy year. Very pleased with the results.

@manton I’ve been considering a printed journal too. I always write something every day - have done for the past five years or so, but much of it is mundane stuff.

@Eyebeemania I think even the mundane stuff is really interesting years later. Usually it’s those “boring” details that I’ve forgotten.

@manton I got a printed copy of all my blog posts from 2025 thanks to your adding of cross post from micro.blog to Day One. Pondering whether to have past years (and how many) posted. One thing that would be nice is a way to only cross post a specific micro.blog category to a specific Day One journal, that way I could send just the posts with titles, which are generally more thought out than title-less posts.

@frankm Cool, glad that was useful. I’d like to add category support there too.

@manton Impressive that you got nine years of entries into one book!

@mroutley I had a bunch of months that were pretty sparse. I think the next decade will be a thicker book, or multiple.

@frankm could you not just use the ‘long post’ category that delivers an RSS feed to populate DayOne using something like Zapier/IFTTT ❓

@manton Could you add a photo of what a sample page with multiple entries looks like (if you have one that isn’t too personal)? I know you’re busy, so if this doesn’t make your priority list, I certainly understand!

@JohnPhilpin @manton Yeah, although while I haven’t tried Zapier, I know that IFTTT has some issues with formatting. I am using a IFTTT action to pull posts in to another Day One Journal.

@manton I just found an old diary from 1980. Very brief entries, but some interesting ones for sure, and even some of those ‘vanilla’ type ones, jogged my memory.
