Posted a video walkthrough on YouTube of the new full-screen editor in Micro.blog. It’s a big change and I expect there will be feedback. We’ll listen and adjust anything that we missed.

@manton Looks great! I really like it. My one little piece of early feedback: since you default to this view for editing posts, I wonder if it’d be helpful to have a “close” or “back” button also visible. It’s a little disorienting to have the whole view change to a full-screen editor with no obvious UI way to get back to the list of posts beyond the browser’s back button.
@jaheppler Thanks! I went back and forth on that. Some early versions did have a Back button in the toolbar, and we could add it back. What I ended up with is clicking the logo in the upper-left as a way to go back to the Posts list. We’ll reconsider if that’s too subtle.
@jsonbecker Thanks!
@manton @jaheppler feels like the best way to offer that is to include the same “pane” icon that toggles full screen mode in a new post on the edit posts editor page.
@jarrod I know, sad… I meant to post it to both Micro.blog and YouTube, then got distracted. 🙂 I’ve mostly stopped posting to YouTube but this felt like an important video to get out there.
@jarrod Oops, thanks. Strange, it doesn’t happen on small window sizes on desktop, so must be iPad-only for some reason.
@rscottjones @jaheppler The first version of this did have the icon toggle for post editing, but I found it confusing because there were so many different potential layouts. I think simplifying to always using full-screen for edits is the way to go, but could be convinced otherwise after more use.
@manton Not tried it .. yet … but looks to be a vast improvement …. My big use case will be particularly in the edit mode … since most of my initial posts start and publish from Drafts

@jarrod No, I still need to resubmit it to Google. It’s ready to go when approved. Will try to do that very soon.
@devilgate That’s strange. Mind sending us a screenshot to help@micro.blog? I haven’t seen any problems with New Post disappearing… On small screens it switches to just an icon in the header, though.
@manton Ah, sorry, I was being an idiot. I was looking for the button at the top of the main body of the page, but I missed it, big and prominent, in the sidebar!
That said, the ‘New’ button for Pages is blue and at the top right, and I was kind of looking for something like that.
On the other other hand, having it in the sidebar means it’s available everywhere, which is good.
I obviously don’t start posts from the web very often!
