I’m still excited for the Pebble Index ring because of the focus on extensibility, but I cancelled my pre-order. I kept asking myself: will I ever actually wear this thing? Nope.

Meanwhile I’ve been plotting to hack a iPod Mini into a voice recorder, ripping out the guts. Might be beyond my skills.

@manton I have one of these I have only used a couple of times that has been sitting in a drawer for years that I’d be happy to send to you.

@patrickrhone Thanks for the offer! That looks neat. At this point I’m already too far down the rabbit hole of gadget hacking, though… Ordered a tiny microphone and a chip to power it about a month ago, just need to set aside some time.

@manton raise to Siri on Apple Watch does this for me. It’s gotten a lot better since it launched.

@manton not a HW hacking project like that, but along the same audio vein and a little older school—I still want to get a Minidisc player/recorder, maybe the hacking comes in getting it to connect to my AirPods 🤔

@zenwheel That would be cool! MiniDisc was such a fun format.

@manton great, besides looking for used players and discs, I started looking at the tools to copy tracks to the later netmd devices, looks like current ubuntu and debian still include minidisc-util packages with `netmdcli` (homebrew does not). 🤯
