Southwest is still my preferred airline but the new changes do hurt the experience. Paying for checked bags encourages people to stuff more bags overhead where they don’t fit. Paying for assigned seats ruins the checkout flow with upsells.

@manton Eh, they’ve completely ended any differentiation they had. Was a fan, now I’ll just seek out the best times and price.
@manton I was sad for the check bag change. It was really handy when flying to Colorado since my snowboard flew for free. Going back to Delta since it’s a better experience at roughly the same price in certain instances.
@quinntchrest I assume they’ve calculated how many customers they are going to lose vs. new revenue, but it’s still kind of hard for me to understand. It’s like user-hostile software design. Why upset loyal customers?
I don't fly unless really necessary, so I didn't catch this. I guess Southwest decided on the enshittification path to bigger profits.

I think you'll find a lot of people don't fly anymore because airlines pioneered enshittification. Southwest is just late to the game.
@Enema_Cowboy @steveediger @manton @pluralistic I will take this link as a suggested listen. Thanks!
@FuturisticRobert @steveediger @manton @pluralistic That’s me. 👋🙋🏼♀️Love to fly. Hate airlines & airports.
