I’m not sure I fully understand the privacy concerns of @manton (https://www.manton.org/2025/06/05/this-court-order-is-a.html) and many others. OpenAI has been ordered to preserve data, not publish it on the open web. I don’t see a plausible path from preservation to widespread publication 🤔

@matt17r Let me try to clarify. Documents preserved for the court often show up in public records if they are used as evidence. Corporate emails, etc. Even if they are never public, I’m still concerned if user data is shared with anyone outside of OpenAI. And worse, Micro.blog uses the OpenAI API, which I only do because there is a guarantee that user data is not retained and not used for training.
