I.e., being able to leave a "bad" instance server (or whatever) for a "better" one.

I too agree. I do hope/wish for the ability to import my posts from one instance to another one of these days. Until that point, we aren't completely there, IMHO.

@manton @evan For you both: is the question about a defined process, or archive format, or both?

And Manton did the blogger space was this a manual thing, or somehting blog software could automate...? And did you do so for Micro.blog?

If the instance makes no effort at moderation, they will get defederated, and the users may not notice.

The users need to pay attention, and when they start seeing the lack of moderation, then that should be their hint to move to another instance.
