I posted a new video on YouTube that shows how filters work in Micro.blog, including a brand new feature: Micro.blog can analyze your blog posts using AI magic to generate keywords and file posts into categories. This is for Micro.blog Premium subscribers. šŸŖ„

@manton Cool! I don’t have Premium, but might upgrade at some point.

Personally, this new feature would also be a great tool to give me ideas on what categories to add. My blogging is all over the place and I hardly remember what I’ve blogged about, so it would be interesting and useful to find out what I actually write about most. 😊

A nice addition would be to somehow show how commonly used various tags are. Like a tag cloud, for example.

@robertbirming I agree, there is a lot of potential here beyond this initial feature. I think we’ll probably have a special page to browse and manage auto-generated keywords in the future.

@manton is there a way to bulk delete categories? I unwittingly imported possibly hundreds with an old Blogger import…

@joeross Unfortunately no. We want to add this. In the meantime, if you want all categories cleared, send me an email to help@micro.blog I can manually clear them.

@manton I turn out to have enough keywords that it takes forever to drag each one up to the keywords field at the top. It’d be cool if I could just click on one have it it get copied into the keywords field instead of having to do the drag.

@philipbrewer Thanks, I’ll work on improving this. It those cases it’s probably easier to just type the keyword again into the field.

@manton I love the look of these however the new Ai generated keywords seem a bit overwhelming, it perhaps needs tuning down a notch! Theres words I have literally used once as I can remember the post, being flagged as a keyword.

Also the filters dont seems to work once set up, they find zero posts on each one I try.

@manton Can the AI-generated keywords be used for any other purpose apart from filters? For example, to populate a meta tag in the ā€œheadā€ partial template? Thanks.

@artkavanagh Not yet. In the future we can use them for many things, but the filters are the first thing. Good idea about meta tags.

@manton love this! I like how you are leaning into using AI for a feature like this. Makes a lot of sense. I can see how these keywords also may enable some other forms of post groupings! šŸ‘

@manton This is cool and a good use of AI. Adding alt-text to images is another one I've seen done well.
