When we launched Micro.one, I was interested in simplifying the sidebar. I moved the link to manage blog post categories to another pane for all users. I now think that was a mistake. Today along with some other minor UI tweaks, I’ve added it back.

@manton Might need to revise help.micro.blog/t/using-c… . And IMO you ought to link to that help page from the Categories page. But then I have a lot of opinions :)
@manton Thank you! Much better.
For someone who hasn’t been an active MB user that long, I think a navigation like this would make more sense:
Timeline · Mentions · Discover

Just my two cents. Love the platform! 😎
@robertbirming Thanks! This is confusing but it’s grouped that way because the “middle” set (Posts, Pages…) are specific for your blog. Most people only have one blog so I’ve never been sure how best to reconcile this. It might be too late to change.
@manton I’m glad to see Categories back on the sidebar. 👍 But I’m curious to know why you think moving it was a mistake.
@artkavanagh A couple reasons… It was awkward to find, and there will be new features related to categories that would be even more buried if we kept the link off the main menu.
@manton Speaking of features related to categories, I would love to see the option to add a description.
@robertbirming Good idea, I’d like to add that.
