Apparently there will be big updates to the design in the next iOS and iPadOS, but I assume it will be mostly superficial. I’d like to see a rethink of text selection and editing. It’s still too finicky without a keyboard and mouse.

@manton That would be a great touch. I like the long-press becomes a touchpad trick with the spacebar, but sometimes I can’t even get a cursor in place to be able to activate it. I think I’ve hit more text selection bugs in [iOS 18/Whatever iPadOs it is] than in previous ones but that might just be my perception.

@manton It is almost without failure that the iOS text input box will put the cursor on the exact opposite side of the word that I want it to… also on the wrong side of the space between words 🤷‍♂️

It also feels like swiping has gotten less accurate over time, although that is probably unsubstantiated and just a thing that sticks out when it goes wrong.
