This ā€œ154 versionsā€ link is hilarious to me. I wrote my last post in Micro.blog for Mac and whenever you hit ⌘S it saves another version to the server just in case you need to revert. Other obsessive ⌘S people may be able to relate.

@manton wait, so does micro.blog have all versions of all posts stored?

@manton There was a bug in WP early in the block editor days that would save a revision after, something like, three key presses. Given how often I edit while I write, it was... a bit intense.

@eatyourglory Yes, but only for 60 days. It’s designed so you can restore if you make a mistake or accidentally delete a post, but then the old versions are cleared automatically.

@manton This brings a memory: when I was studying computer science in college, a friend of mine used to save his Turbo Pascal source file twice… when I discovered he was doing this, I asked him why, and he answered: ā€œbecause I want to make sure the file is effectively written to the floppy diskā€. šŸ˜‚ We were using TRS-80 at the time with 8-inch floppies. You never know when things might go wrong. 🤭

@eatyourglory There’s no limit except after 60 days the oldest ones will start going away. We could add a limit but the chances of someone saving a post 1000s of times seems slim. šŸ™‚
