We’ve visited Dallas a lot recently. It sort of amazes me that Dallas has been able to develop extensive new light rail, and repurpose old rail corridors into great walking trails. Comparatively it feels like Austin has done almost nothing. Looking at the old Missouri-Kansas-Texas line, unused.
@adnan.social There’s a DART line from Plano to downtown Dallas, but I don’t have any experience with it. Perhaps it’s not enough but it looks like way more than any other Texas city has.
@manton I share this view as someone who used to live in Austin, and now lives in Dallas. Slow moving, but progress nonetheless. Also see https://theloopdallas.org/ if you haven’t yet. Progress!
@manton I love both urban Austin and urban Dallas, but feel many people’s perception is based on these cities from twenty years ago. Dallas has come a long way.
@manton Ssshhh! I'm unreasonably happy when a national publication overlooks Dallas (usually to pump up Austin). I've lived here forever, with stops in N. California & Austin. They're great, but Dallas is the inverse of the cliche: A great place to live, even if I might not want to visit here.
