@manton Is there a way to migrate the contents of my WordPress site to micro.blog without a $5 a month account? Just hoping to see how it all imports without purchasing an account, only to potentially cancel it. I am 99.9% sure this isn't possible, but thought I'd check.
@thaddeushunt Hosted microblogs have a 10-day free trial. If you don't see that option or it expired, send an email to help and I can extend it so you can test the import. Thanks!
@sumudu I think some people have done it by exporting to WordPress format first, then importing to Micro.blog. Let us know if you have any trouble!
@manton Ah, yeah, mine definitely expired. :) I am working on a game plan to finally migrate my self-hosted WP site to micro.blog. I just need to see what my exit strategy is from my hosting provider. Once I have a handle on that, I'll reach out and extend that trial. Thanks!
@sumudu Ah, I expect the work-around for now is to use the WordPress plugin to import Ghost, then export to Micro.blog. We'll consider direct Ghost import later.
@adders I did and now I have it down loaded to computer as json file. So what should I do from there?
@thaddeushunt There's a quirk with expiration that actually lets you import to expired microblogs, so feel free to test it. You can upgrade on the web when you're ready.
@manton Just finished it! Thanks for the tip. It did a pretty good job! Probably too optimistic to think that link integrity is maintained from one site to the next?
@thaddeushunt It records the previous WordPress URLs and automatically redirects them. But the domain name has to match for that to work, so while testing you might not see it.
