It has only been a week since GPT-4o and they’ve already had a few days of bad news, including resignations and the latest with Scarlett Johansson. You can feel it becoming an “OpenAI can’t trusted” narrative that will be hard to shake. Need to prioritize this (and the Apple deal?) above all else.

@manton I cannot fathom what series of poor judgement calls led Apple to partner with OpenAI. Apple should have just bought Mistral or one of the other competitive open LLMs and rolled their own. OpenAI is dead-man-walking in terms of business models and it’s run by a-holes. Not the best of bedfellows.

@mrwheat.bsky.social I think it’s as simple as OpenAI having the best models and best API. After years of complaints about Siri, Apple needs a leap forward.
