Rollercoaster week for the App Store. Spotify ruling, Epic banned, EU getting involved, Epic now un-banned. Whew! We recorded a @coreint in the middle of it and we’re gonna try to add an update before it’s published.

@manton Saying I’m underwhelmed by Apple’s actions over the last months is an understatement. So much so that I’m now actively planning to move out of their ecosystem over the next few years. It was fun while it lasted.

@roelio I've been tempted to move on the mobile side, but I still feel like I need iMessage. I have been working to be less dependent on Apple developer tools and distribution, though.

@manton Apple is the worst tech company in the world … except for all the others. DHH moved 37signals from Apple to MS, Android, and Samsung. How is that a move up for ethical considerations?

Apple products are energy efficient and are useful for far longer than the alternatives. That’s good for the planet.

Buying an Apple product is an excellent experience. Used Apple products are good for the planet.

Apple does bad stuff that’s historically consistent with corporate dominance but what’s a better alternative?

@gebloom Yep, the alternatives have problems too. I'll always view Apple differently because I expect the best from them. Lower expectations for Google. (DHH hasn't moved all of 37signals yet… Just himself. But they were Mac-only until now, so a mix is probably good.)

@manton For me it has to start with replacing all the peripherals (AirPods, watch). iMessage is less of a consideration, here in Europe everyone uses Whatsapp.

A nuisance would be migrating from all the productivity apps I use now (Fantastical, Things.app, Notes.app).
