I think there’s a problem with videos displaying on my Micro.blog website. I know they are there and I know they are playable. I just can’t get any of them to play on my phone anymore. I need to investigate.
They can be viewed on my YouTube channel until I fix it.
@aeryn Was it a Micro.blog bug with the videos? If so, let me know if there's something I should look at and fix.
@manton not sure. One thing I am going to investigate is how much of the html I need to put in between the <video> tags because since I upload as ".pdf" and rename to .mp4, I've been writing the bare minimum html. Eg.
<video src=“https://aeryn.me/uploads/2024/20240210-1032-vlog-return-seven-year-cycle-micro.blog.mp4”></video>
On this post there is no video showing on my iPhone in safari. But I verified I can play the video in my RSS reader.
@aeryn Ah, I forgot about that PDF work-around. I recommend a couple attributes on the video tag: controls="controls" preload="metadata". Let me know if that makes any difference.
@manton thanks! I’ll try it. Do you think you could update the Copy HTML on the uploads page? Because these tags aren’t included.
