Ooooooo! Just found the edit hold, suspend hold for X weeks feature in Libby! Pushed a few books out a couple weeks so that I can read a half dozen dead-tree books I have. So excited by this!

@kitt Oh, sweet! Thanks for sharing that, it's been a problem of mine when dozens of books fly in at once to be read in a matter of short weeks. One workaround I had was to download each book as I borrowed it and sideload it on the Kindle via USB cable. For some reason those do not "expire" out.
@kitt Pleasure! P.S. As a newbie here, I'm thinking the lack of a like button in these cases is a way of forcing more interaction with others, right?
@kitt Oh! Does that keep your place in the hold queue? What a great idea. I remain really impressed and happy with Libby. It’s such a massive improvement on OverDrive.
@solari @kitt Yep, that's part of it. We'll likely have some form of public reactions later, but the lack of a like button encourages people to reply instead, and also removes any judgement about who has the most likes.
@manton the lack of certain types of notifications is a huge benefit! Really drives more engaged, less unfocused behavior.
@alans it does hold your place, but allows you to say to the person behind you, “oh, I'm waiting for someone, you go ahead." Options include pause for a week, up to six months. I am so delighted with it!
@kitt Oh wow I didn't know about Libby in the first place. Thanks for helping me find it! It's a shame the kindle feature is only available in the US but other than that I'm looking forward to trying this out.
@simonmumbles oh, I didn't realize that the send-to-kindle works only in the U.S. with Libby. Libby doesn't export highlights, which is a blocker in my book-review workflow, and why I prefer to read in the Kindle app, which does have the highlight export feature. #runonsentence
@kitt In adequate proof of just how dense I am: I didn't even realise the main thing is OverDrive. 🤦♂️
@kitt Oh, Libby it is then! Thanks for saving me the energy and time of finding out the hard way. 🙌
