I said during Micro Camp back in May that I hoped Micro.blog would be open source by the end of the year. Didn’t happen, too much else to do. Still have plans along those lines, as soon as I can carve out time to get the structure for everything set up correctly.

@manton any chance of having two modes for emails, free and paid, a la Substack? Especially salient as people seek alternatives.

@manton this is very re-assuring. Can I help? Can we help? That’s kind of the first step of OSS ;)

@Transportist It’s something we’ve thought about. Not currently planned, but will probably revisit it in the future.

@manton 👏That’s great news.

Having a public issue tracker will make it much easier to understand which issues are known, and what’s on the workbench.

Access to the codebase will allow members of the community to fix things that are important to them, so you won’t have to do it all yourself.

Should help to build trust and take the platform to the next level.

@manton delay is not a problem, what’s important is the goal to become open source. ✌

@abc It won’t change anything in the day to day running of Micro.blog. To me, it’s mostly about the longevity of the platform.
