I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I’m considering migrating brightpixels.blog to WordPress.

@mikehaynes I’m currently on Jekyll and the compile speeds are pretty slow. Also, it’s a bit complicated to write from mobile…
@smith I don't know if you're aware of it, but I highly recommend checking out Blot.im (@blot)—I switched over recently and have been thrilled with how elegantly it works.
@marius I have heard of Blot. I’d have to look into how easy it would be to use it on mobile though…
@smith are you 100% mobile? iOS nor android, screen size ... I am a big blot user ... and a lot of my stuff there STARTS on Mobile ... maybe I can help.
@Blot I am GUESSING that @smith is more concerned about creating posts on mobile than viewing. In which case to help, I use drafts, IA writer and Ulysses to create posts on an iPad that end up mainly here
@marius adding you to this list
@smith - you might find some useful links in there to help decide
@Blot yes - agree on Bear - big user - big fan - but I don’t use it to publish to Blot - hence my omission .... but you are absolutely RIGHT.
@Blot @JohnPhilpin yes! That’s what I meant. Being able to easily creat drafts and jot down ideas on mobile…
@mikehaynes yes I noticed that! It’s encouraging because you customized the theme so well! It looks amazing! That’s the hard part, I want it to be easy to publish without sacrificing the custom aspects of the way I happen to write
@smith do it all the time - it is absolutely the simplest - particulalrly if you need a place to write and think before publishing - which isn’t that easy in micro blog
@JohnPhilpin @smith I've been testing a feature for saving drafts in Micro.blog to give a little more flexibility for this, although using a dedicate app is usually better.
@JohnPhilpin You can now add me to that list as well. Link in my micro.blog bio.
@manton I see people asking for drafts on hosted blogs every so often, so that should be a welcome new feature :-)
@smith I used Jekyll too and left it for Ghost for pretty much the same reason, but I am thinking to make a comeback to static sites. I have recently discovered Hugo and I am just blown away by the speed, with which it built my site.
As for posting from mobile, depending on which platform you're on, you can use Working Copy on iOS to write and sync directly to a git repo. You also have good choices for basic CMS, like Forestry.
@JohnPhilpin Thank you...and well timed, just as I completed the edit and transfer of my site.
@smith I started slowly moving the site to Hugo this morning: preslav.me/2019/03/2... It won't be an easy task, but in the long run, one with way less dependencies than maintaining a Ghost instance.
@JohnPhilpin Thanks, John! My blog address is mariusmasalar.me if you want to add a link when you next update the page. :)
@marius and done - nice work on the blog BTW - quick Q ... re ‘My Menu Bar Apps’ - are those the 'always show’ icons under BarTender - or the total?
@JohnPhilpin Thank you! Those are all apps, total. The only ones I keep visible outside of Bartender are Droplr (for easy dragging of files to it) and Toothfairy. Otherwise I keep everything tucked away with Bartender set to show for updates (usually for 15sec).
@JohnPhilpin It's peaceful this way, isn't it? I see them when I have a reason to look at them, but otherwise they're not cluttering things up. :)
