@fgtech Right. Also, I think Micro.blog is different than Mastodon, Bluesky, and Threads because we do have full-length blog posts. If you want to write 1000 characters, go for it. That's not possible elsewhere. (Well, it is possible on Twitter now.)

@manton there are a number of microblogging ActivityPub servers that support long character counts.

Hometown Mastodon fork & a bunch of non Mastodon codebases support this.

Some do long Note posts, some actually use the Article ActivityStream type. I’d love Article support in Micro.blog

@boris Yes, but they look so bad in the native interface. And most clients have started cutting them anyway.

@yury_mol the vast majority of users read on mobile clients, many of which have a “read more” click. The Hometown fork has this by default.

As more ActivityStream types happen in the Fediverse, I expect clients to evolve too. In fact, clients are evolving fastest.
