We went seriously down the genealogy rabbit hole last night, with a couple “oh wow” moments of discovery. Need to do a little more research at the library (print books! microfilm!) and then will try to write it up in a blog post.

@manton I did a ton of genealogy research some years back and Ancestry.com was great. I was able to hook into others' (technically distant relatives) work due to fairly large families & trace some stuff back to 1720s Pennsylvania and 1450s Germany! The trick is paying ongoing for access to the corroborating material. I let my subscription lapse and can always reconnect to it, but for now I get free access to the trees that I built including in the mobile app, which is fun for family gatherings.
