Basecamp is changing pricing again. Crazy. I really liked some of their ideas, read their books, even their design in parts... but wow. OK.

@vincent I thought they used to grandfather current users in at whatever price they started at? $300 USD a month is insane though.

@nickkaczmarek Yeah, this is for new accounts (I think). But still, $300 for one year upfront ($3600). eeek. I guess they know their market.

@vincent it really is crazy. I can imagine there are people willing to pay much more as well. Probably businesses but either way.

@vincent @nickkaczmarek Surprised by this too. That's effectively a 3x price increase. I'm sure they won't change the price for existing users, but still.

@pcora “just” $299 per month, if paid yearly.

@manton @vincent @nickkaczmarek $3600 is peanuts for enterprise software, right? It seems the better analysis is whether $15/usr/month is worth it for teams <20.

@toddgrotenhuis true that. I guess $99 a month for a small team of say 6 people down to $15/month is ok. Still quite a big change from what we’re used to.

@vincent true true, and especially in that 7-20 range. Wonder if they had many customers in that size and this gets them a bit more.
