I’ve renamed and expanded the help page about how Micro.blog works with Mastodon. Includes more answers to common questions.
@manton A question I still have is, "If a Micro.blog post receives a reply from a Mastodon user, will replying in Micro.blog go out to that Mastodon user?"
@manton Two questions one might have. If I don’t have ActivityPub activated, what will happen if I participate in a conversation with Mastodon users (mentioning them)? And: I got a DM via email; how do I reply?
@sod Good questions. Replies from non-ActivityPub users can't be sent. This is why we plan to enable it for everyone later, otherwise it's too confusing. (No good answer for DM replying yet. Maybe we should support reply-via-email?)
@manton DM replies might get very confusing, since they aren't Direct Messages in the traditional sense on Mastodon itself, but posts only available to all participants mentioned, which can be added later on. What would happen if I mention someone in that answer email?
I find this stuff confuses more people than necessary and I would be happy if micro.blog would stay far away from that :)
