Does Mastodon support host name delegation? As in, I can use `kraft.im` as my matrix host name but the actual server is at matrix.kraft.im and my web server on Kraft.im is not impacted.
I'm guessing no because I don't see anything about it so far, but in case it exists as a lightly documented feature.
@kraft Partially. If you're domain name is hosted at Micro.blog, we give you an ActivityPub username for that domain name. But it doesn't work if your root domain is somewhere else and only a subdomain is using Micro.blog.
@ecschwarz Not a dumb question, that should usually work but it looks like a bug if you don't have a hosted blog on Micro.blog. If you add a blog (Plans → New Blog) that should fix it. I'll see if I can smooth this over later.
@manton Thanks for the pointers. @kraft@kraft.blog is working off my main site now. Not sure what I want to do with it but it seems to work.
@kraft Cool! Yeah, I think there is a lot of "let's just set this up and see what happens" right now... Which is fine. People will hop around different spots in the Mastodon world before things settle out.
@manton Have been off & on the tusk for several years. I find Mastodon too busy & engagement with others poor. Micro.blog's interface is clean & inviting. Like the idea of no hashtags. Interactions are more personable like that of Discord. Thanks to you & others 4 your hard work
