I’m thinking about challenging myself to write 100 words every day on micro.blog for the month of September. But there are already a lot of challenges in my life, so I don’t know if this would be more therapeutic than other choices that I’ve made.

@mandaris 100 words is interesting. Doable, but takes more planning than just 1 post a day. I like it. I’m also planning a sort of personal photo challenge in September, something I’ve wanted to do for a while and kept putting off.

@JohnPhilpin I’m hoping to get a minimum of 100. I’m pretty laconic most times.

@manton Yes, usually I find that the first couple of days are fairly to do. Towards the end, I find myself writing about writing. The whole reason that I'm trying to do this is to make something that I'd look back on with pride. But, as I tell my kids, "they can't all be winners"

@terrygrier I'm hoping to have a couple pearls somewhere... If only for the exercise of writing itself.

@mandaris I will be cheering on the sideline, because that's quite the commitment🎗🤞

I've done NaNoWriMo 3x, failed every time because no prep. Didn't have a story idea, no characters, nor recent reading experience—my Achilles heel. Want to write a lot, need to have read a lot.

@mandaris If you want it separate from your micro blog, consider write.as The free account is words only and a dozen posts a day. I'm there as renevanbelzen.writeas.com and added the feed to MB's Timeline.

@mandaris That’s really interesting, it’s succinctly challenging but also encourages the thought process.

@pimoore Thank you. I just hope that I make it. Side note: you were the final bit of influence that got me to get a chemex. My wife is loving it. Coffee is good but no one mentioned the price on the official filters.

@mandaris great choice, glad I could help you along with it! Yeah the filter cost is higher than others, but not only are they what provide clarity in the cup to highlight tasting notes — especially for single origin beans — but they’re oxygen bleached without chemicals.

You can always pick up an Able Kone stainless steel mesh filter which will eliminate paper filter cost. I might do that myself, actually.
